Carlos Cabanzo

I am a PhD candidate at the University of Minho in Portugal, working at the Institute
for Sustainability and Innovation in Structural Engineering (ISISE). My research
focuses on supporting the preservation of heritage structures, such as masonry arch
bridges and churches, affected by extreme hazard events including earthquakes,
flooding, and blast actions. Beyond science, I have a background in plastic arts and a
strong interest in culturally oriented exhibitions. I am also passionate about cinema
and food. Through the Youth Science Club, I have contributed to the development of
engineering-based workshops, including the pasta bridge workshop held in late 2024.
I am eager to continue bridging engineering science, pun intended, with younger
audiences and fostering their curiosity about the built environment.
