Katja Kaurinkoski

I’m a Neuroscience grad student at the University of Helsinki studying the effect of environmental enrichment on neuroplasticity. I get excited by all aspects of the brain and mind, particularly by sleep science and how our microbiome communicates with our brain (gut-brain axis). Sustainability, intersectional climate justice, international relations, and youth rights are what keep me up at night – I’m always on the lookout for new podcast recommendations to do with these topics! I’m currently on the Podcast team and was one of the core March for Science Helsinki organisers in 2019. I’m also the co-social media manager and official TSB paparazzi. When I’m not doing science or scicomm you can find me cycling by the sea or in the forest with a camera in hand. Follow me on social media if you want to hear more about these topics and more!
